Using the hand as a starting point, the task was to develop an initial concept into a handheld object of the student’s choice. The aim was to learn how to work with various design processes to achieve a product concept. In the process, students have looked back historically, done market surveys and analysed trends. They have also done sketches and built cardboard models and finally created a credible prototype.

Despite the common starting point, the end results are all different. This reflects the designer behind the object and the influences that came to affect the individual during the process. As a visitor you gain an insight into the design process and the opportunity to follow the projects’ development. Some solutions remained at the concept and sketch stage whilst others were developed into something totally different than the original idea.

The exhibition was produced at the students’ initiative.
