The initiative is part of the Knowledge Centre for Designed Living Environments, established by Region Skåne and, since 2023, operated at Form/Design Center in Malmö. Its mission is to strengthen the region’s capacity and collaboration on issues related to the planning, design, and development of our living environments. Organisationally and physically, the Knowledge Centre is based at Form/Design Center, which has long been an established national hub for design, architecture, and crafts.

The Knowledge Centre serves as a regional platform for collaboration among municipalities, academia, civil society, and private and public stakeholders in Skåne. The work is grounded in national and regional policy documents, including the national Policy for Designed Living Environments, Region Skåne’s strategy for designed living environments, the regional plan, and the cultural plan. The platform is intended to function as a structured arena for cooperation, project development, and knowledge exchange. In this way, it creates conditions for long-term skills supply and for anchoring national objectives at national, regional, and local levels.

The collaboration with Helsingborg will be the Knowledge Centre’s first official partnership and will include, among other things, the delivery of activities in Helsingborg focusing on current issues in designed living environments. This is planned to take place in close collaboration with surrounding municipalities and stakeholders. In the longer term, the partnership may also lead to the development of joint projects and funding applications together with academia and industry actors in Helsingborg and the region.
