During the launch, you’ll meet photographer Emma Krantz and designer Matilda Plöjel, who together with historian Karl Johan Krantz have created the book Vi talade om träd som om de varit människor. The book portrays twenty-two trees in Småland – oaks, lindens, junipers, and others that have held a special significance in people’s lives and stories.
Through Karl Johan Krantz’s insightful texts and Emma Krantz’s evocative photographs, readers are invited into nature’s own history, where each tree becomes a bearer of memories, myths, and local identity. The title is taken from an article by Elin Wägner from 1935, in which she described the interaction of trees as a “system of sustenance so perfect that it could make an economist wring their hands in envy.”
Vi talade om träd som om de varit människor is both a tribute to Wägner’s world of thought and a reminder of our dependence on nature. The book is designed by Matilda Plöjel and published by Sailor Press.
Drinks will be served during the launch, and the book will be available at a special price.
