The exhibition presents the story of the chair through three podiums – from the raw plant material, through the design and manufacturing process, to the final product. The installation emphasizes the natural origin, the thoughtful craftsmanship, and the circular qualities that define the chair’s design.

Mat Chair Collection

After many years of research and development, Normann Copenhagen has created a groundbreaking chair collection designed by Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen. Mat is made of hemp and eelgrass – natural, renewable materials that replace traditional plastic in shell chairs. By combining innovative material choices with timeless design, the collection points the way toward a more circular furniture production, where waste is recycled and each chair can return to the cycle.
