We visit Fyrtornet in Hyllie, a building praised by the jury for placing “wood at the center of the collective space.” As Sweden’s tallest timber office building, it is not only a technical achievement, but a project where the exposed structural frame creates a warm, human aesthetic within an otherwise large-scale environment.
During the guided tour, we discuss how Fyrtornet functions as a new social hub, where the new district library on the ground floor invites the city in. We also reflect on how modern engineering has been combined with a craftsman’s attention to detail, and how the building, with its distinctive profile, succeeds in being both a pioneering technical project and a sensory experience.
