The Municipality of Trelleborg has been nominated for the Planning Award 2025 for a project the jury describes as “refreshingly bold.” By challenging today’s often fragmented planning processes, the municipality has taken a courageous, holistic approach to the city centre. Instead of adapting to individual building projects, it has reclaimed the initiative and established clear frameworks in which streets and urban blocks work together to heal the city core.
It is an inspiring example of how strategic planning can be used as a powerful tool to guide development towards high architectural quality and social sustainability.
