Come and explore Malmö’s development through an exhibition featuring examples from Malmö in the Making as well as projects and initiatives by the City Planning Office. Form/Design Center and Urban Academy contribute sections focused on ongoing democracy initiatives and democratic processes.

At the heart of the exhibition is a nine-square-meter model of Malmö, serving as an educational centerpiece — a tangible way to visualize the city’s development and invite conversations about how we together shape our shared living environment.

Malmö’s Next Comprehensive Plan

→ 15–17 June / 13:00–18:00

Throughout all days of the exhibition, between 1 pm and 6 pm, you can meet knowledgeable representatives, join discussions, share your views, and take an active part in shaping Malmö’s Next Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan sets the direction and outlines the vision for Malmö’s development over the next twenty years. It provides a framework for ensuring that Malmö can continue to grow in a sustainable way.

To allow for greater flexibility, the City of Malmö works with a continuous comprehensive planning process. This means that the Comprehensive Plan is reviewed every electoral term and updated in step with societal development.

the participation method Min Plats (My Place)

→ 15 June / 13:30–15:00

On Monday, 15 June, you will meet people working with the participation method Min Plats (“My Place”) in the exhibition. In the development of the city, it is important to work both with children’s own perspectives and with a child perspective — that is, adults’ views of children’s environments. To help children and young people explore and influence their local surroundings, the City of Malmö has developed the participation method Min Plats, which can be used with groups in schools, community organizations, and other settings.

Malmö in the Making, Form/Design Center, and Urban Academy will be present in the exhibition throughout Malmö Möts opening hours.

Malmö möts

Malmö möts is a democracy week during which Malmö comes together to focus on democracy and explore the future. The programme combines conversations and knowledge-sharing with experiences that move, engage, and inspire both laughter and reflection — through encounters taking place across the city and welcoming more people to take part.
