Board games in the courtyard

Welcome to the architectural installation ‘Långbord’ in Hedmanska gården – and challenge a friend to a board game or two. Feel free to bring along something tasty from the newly opened summer café VETE at Form/Design Center.

Långbord is a site-specific installation designed by architects Victoria Israelsson and Emma Broberg, and the winning proposal in Mellan-rummet – a 2024 competition for recent graduates in architecture, interior design, urban planning, and landscape architecture.

Hedmanska gården is one of Malmö’s oldest courtyard environments, named after merchant Gabriel Hedman, who purchased the property in 1838. Since 1974, Form/Design Center has been based in the former granary on the courtyard.

MEET THE ARCHITECTS BEHIND LÅNGBORD

The winners of the Mellan-rummet open call were architects Emma Broberg and Victoria Israelsson. The duo graduated from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm in 2023.

“With Långbord, we want to invite people to meet and spend time together by setting the table with integrated game boards where anyone is welcome to sit down for a round of chess or Ludo,” say the architects.
