According to the UN, drylands cover 40% of the world area and host 30% of the world’s population. Conversely, 40% of the world’s population lives within 100 kilometres of the coast and the majority of the world´s megacities will be affected by sealevel rise. Based on examples of international projects linking research, teaching and practice, the lecture will discuss how landscape architects can engage with new water management strategies as the starting point for the creation of liveable cities and multifunctional landscapes.

The lecture will be followed by a panel discussion with

Ola Melin, director of parks and green spaces, City of Malmö
Sofia Öreberg, head of urban development, Tyréns, Malmö
Andrea Kahn, professor of landscape architecture, SLU
