In collaboration with City of Malmö and Eurovision, a unique opportunity is offered for participants in Southern Sweden Design Days to display their work in a group exhibition 4–11 May in conjunction with Eurovision Song Contest 2024.

The exhibition PRE-SSDD will take place in City of Malmö and SVT's Media Centre at Malmömässan in Hyllie where approx. 1,200 international journalists will be gathered alongside with the delegations of the competing countries. City of Malmö has an area of approximately 1,000 square meters which will include an information desk, lounge areas, places for photos and recordings as well as exhibitions. Through the collaboration with Southern Sweden Design Days, City of Malmö can highlight and showcase a selection of good examples of local sustainable design.

Eurovision Song Contest

The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 (ESC) is one of the world's largest televised events. The arrangement is a non-political event and the concept is owned by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). Sveriges Television (SVT) has been commissioned to organize and produce the event in Malmö. City of Malmö's mission is to host the Eurovision Song Contest on 4–11 May 2024 and has the following vision for its hosting:

When the Eurovision Song Contest comes to Malmö, everyone is welcome. We - the host city - will create a sustainable, safe and exuberant "Eurovision bubble" throughout central Malmö. Our party will be characterized by participation and creativity. We believe that there is a special brilliance in reflecting the city's breadth, culture and Malmö fashion. We also invite you to playfulness, where we respectfully push our boundaries a little. Welcome in! Here, music, creativity and concern for everyone are celebrated. United by music. United by Malmö.

PRE-SSDD

PRE-SSDD serves as a prelude to the design festival and shows what is to come during the festival days – a first glimpse of the program. In 2023, PRE-SSDD took place in Folkets Park in Malmö with nine of the festival's participants.

Exhibition information

PRE-SSDD will occupy a total area of 160 square meters (10x16 m). The objects are placed on podiums with acrylic mirror panels as the top surface. One mirror panel has the dimensions 1000x750 mm (0.75 sq m) and can be combined into larger surfaces.

It is possible to submit requests for the size of surfaces as follows:

•    2000x750 mm (1,5 sq m / 2 mirror panels)

•    2000x1500 mm (3 sq m / 4 mirror panels)
•    5000x750 mm (3,75 sq m / 5 mirror panels)

You can exhibit new or previous works. The exhibition will be built by staff from Form/Design Center and Eurovision. You as a designer will not have the opportunity to be present during construction.

The exhibition objects must be well packed to withstand transport. Clear instructions about how the objects are intended to be displayed must be included. Items must be submitted to Form/Design Center 2–3 April. Form/Design Center arranges the transport to the fair.
