We visit Rosa torget in Malmö – a place that leaves no one untouched. The jury for the Landmark Award described the square as a “total work of art,” where the artistic takes precedence over the technical, and where form, colour, and movement are at the centre.

Together with the initiators behind the project, we gain insight into how sculptural brick arches and an undulating brick wall create spatiality and tactile qualities within the diverse hospital environment. We discuss the square as a democratic meeting place and a symbolic invitation to community – a place that not only responds to functional needs, but poses a completely different, more playful question: Shall we dance?

Rosa torget was also awarded the Region Skåne Architecture Prize 2025.
